“Most people who bought Ocarina of Time never bothered to finish the game (which is why Nintendo responded by making the game insanely easy).“
Where are you getting this information? I seriously doubt that has any grounding in reality, Furthermore how could Nintendo respond to this information that they could never have recieved and retroactively make the game easier? If your talking about re releases then Nintendo made master quest which was actually harder
“I don’t think it is possible to be both a fan of Classic Zelda and Aonuma Zelda at the same time. The gameplay philosophies are diametrically opposed.“
I myself am a fan of both as far classic as aLttP is, just like 2D mario and 3D mario I see them as different but equally valid forms of Zelda

Miyamoto stated that many people did not finish Ocarina of Time (why do you think the Zelda games have gotten ridiculously easier after that?). Many of the gamers I know in real life have played and just stopped playing in the middle of it. When asked why, they shrug. It’s as if the game just ceased to be compelling right in the middle of it. It happened to me as well. For myself, I identify the problem was with the crappy puzzle dungeons. Hello Water Temple.
You may be a fan of Classic Zelda and Aonuma Zelda, but you are a fan of the little guy in the green tunic. Most fans of Aonuma Zelda are hostile to the gameplay of Classic Zelda. For example, let us say a New Legend of Zelda came out on the Nintendo handheld (not unlike NSMB DS). There would be massive excitement from the Classic Zelda fans and a bizarre outrage from the Aonuma Zelda fans. Do not underestimate this outrage. When Super Mario Brothers 5 was going to be released, 3d Mario fans were still outraged and felt Nintendo was ‘wasting their time’ on this 2d Mario game even though a 3d Mario game would be coming out only months later. These people did not understand or care that 2d Mario fans had been waiting 18 years for the next 2d Mario on the home console. And even when Super Mario Brothers 5 came out, they still trolled it. And this includes everyone realizing just how much popular 2d Mario is over 3d Mario. We know Classic Zelda is popular, but how popular? I’d like to put that to a test. But should a new Classic Zelda appear, the Aonuma fans would become banshees and scream.
Fans of Classic Zelda gameplay and fans of Aonuma gameplay don’t tend to be on the same page. Aonuma fans respect Classic Zelda as Zelda’s origin and like Link, Zelda, and the beginning of how Hyrule was presented, but they despise the gameplay.
