Email: Malstrom, you were right

The new Nintendo 3DS game, Super Mario 3D Land, which landed in stores Nov. 11, has become the fastest selling portable Mario game in company history, selling more than 500,000 units since launch
(No one cares about 3D Mario or 3D Mario in 3D)
Meanwhile, the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, released for the Nintendo Wii on Sunday, Nov. 20, has sold 535,000 copies since its U.S. launch, making it hte fastest-selling Zelda game ever, he says.
(Damn Aunoma! Not about combat, about PUZZLES!!! (like Zelda 1) – to hell with motion plus!)
These strong new releases also drove sales of Nintendo 3DS and Wii systems, Fils-Aime says. Last week’s 3DS sales tripled (by 325%) compared to sales the week of Nov. 6, the week before Super Mario 3D Land debuted; the week of its debut, sales rose 49% over the previous week.
(The Next Virtual Boy – ALREADY PASSES DS 1RST YEAR SALES WITH MONTHS TO GO!!!! AND CHRISTMAS! AND MARIO KART!!!!)
The Nintendo Wii had its biggest Black Friday ever more with than 500,000 units sold just during Black Friday and the pre-Black openings at some stores, he says.
(Poor Latinos! And FAMILIES?!?!!? Annnnnd….. XBOXrs and Hardcoar Gamers!!!!! )
Oh, and I learnt from you,Nintendo should never make another 2D Mario game again cause Mario Kart outsells it! VIVA LA MARKET!
VIVA LA MALSTROM! HOW CAN YOU STAND BEING RIGHT ALL TEH TIME?????
Do you hate Tim Tebow as well? Maybe you can get a job at ESPN and change it to the Worldwide Leader of Butthurt, cause I don’t think they gonna give you Reggie’s job now! Hope for change, Malstrom! Does your SEGA CD have beer drinking tunes on it in 16 bit? I hope so!

LMAO!

So you actually believe these are ‘good sales’ because that is what the press release says? I can tell you they aren’t that great.

The best selling games, at this very moment, are not on a Nintendo system. Modern Warfare 3 (not counting the Nintendo platform ports), Battlefield 3, Skyrim- these are the huge selling games. They are selling millions in a very short window of time. Skyward Sword isn’t lighting any fires and neither is Mario Land.

I always have to laugh at anyone looking at a press release that says, “Sales are higher than ever in the holidays!” when that is where sales are always highest. January sales are a far better thermometer to take of the market than November and December. Games that sell after Christmas are the actual hits. This is why every publisher releases their game around the holidays because this is where all the sales is at (and the highest rate of uninformed purchasing).

Nintendo is getting its butt kicked by Microsoft this holiday season. But since you didn’t read a press release saying that, you wouldn’t know it.
