Email: I wish I could be as subjective as you

But I cant when I see news like this. http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2012/jun/21/namco-bandai-working-new-super-smash-bros-game-never-seen-dream-team/

I guess it just boils down to preferences. Im not too big into the 2D Mario games as much as you and I’m not too deep into the Zelda games but I do like the good ones, not the Aonuma zelda. I’m a Metroid and Smash Brothers lover and all I ask is nintendo make them. I was originally interested when Other M was going to be teamed up with a third party….and then saw and played the disaster it was. So now I see another one being outsourced and believe they are just incapable of making their own games anymore. Sakurai has said he doesn’t want to make another melee ever again and thus resulted in an inferior smash brothers brawl. That and it just wreaks of another Other M but this time its Smash Brothers.

I can’t stand it, Malstrom! I can’t stand it!  What am I supposed to look forward to when my core favorites are being run into the ground. People think I hate nintendo when I say I just want good games. If I can’t get the core games…make some new ones.

I can’t be Subjective when Nintendo’s track record tells me otherwise

Like for example your post on how the WiiU will be controller free. How we have choice in controllers. Nintendo (to me) certainly wont do this , because of its history on the wii . Mario Galaxy could only use the wii-mote and nunchaku, Skyward Sword had the same deal, Other M could only use the Wii mote. The only game I remember to truly be controller free was Smash brothers brawl , where you could use the classic controller, the wii-mote , wii-mote & Nunchaku, and the gamecube controller. I truly believe that 90% percent of the titles will not be controller free.

Concerning the Smash Brothers / Namco announcement, Sakurai says it was done because he was ‘so excited’. But I think it was done because they wouldn’t have kept such a partnership secret. Might as well announce it beforehand.

People are going to hate me for saying this, but I must. Smash Brothers is not going to make the Wii U a success. Sequels to N64 and Gamecube games aren’t going to make the Wii U perform better than those systems. This is why I don’t think Pikmin 3 is going to do anything since the only Pikmin fans are Gamecube owners (which are a few in number).

The only Nintendo games I see that will currently break the Wii U out of the Gamecube mold is NSMB U (N64 and Gamecube did not have a 2d Mario) and Wii Fit U (Wii Fit did wonders for the Wii).

I’m more interested in how Smash Brothers will play out on the 3DS. Since the gameplay is only a few minutes long and there isn’t a ton of scrolling (and 2d), Smash Brothers may best perform on a handheld. If there is a potential 3DS killer app, it would be Smash Brothers. I remember what happened when Jump Superstars came out for the DS in Japan…
