Now the important part of this story is that Hayashi is implying that Sakamoto is still in charge of the Metroid series. In fact, it seems to suggest that Nintendo decided to blame Team Ninja for Other M’s failure. (Personally, I wouldn’t want them on a Metroid game either, but they weren’t to blame for Other M.)
I’m glad to see the comments in that article are people who are scared to death of an Other M 2. It looks like Other M killed off the Sakamoto Cult.
How about a 2d Metroid in HD on Wii U? You could play it on the controller or, when on the big screen, have the controller act as a map? That would be very cool.
And 2d Metroid means zero dialogue. We do not want a 2d Other M. That would just add insult to injury.
To this day, Miyamoto blames the failure of the Virtual Boy on the marketing. Nintendo never blames themselves. They are all perfumed princes overflowing with ‘creativity’.
The story does confirm that Sakamoto is still in control of the Metroid franchise. That is a damn shame.
