With your current post about VC games are displayed on the Wii, I
remembered something. As you know, for the GameCube there was the
Zelda Collector’s Edition. There they had these beautifully animated
menu screens for the NES Zeldas based on original cover art. Both had
golden backgrounds and the first game has the shield with animated
fairies flying around, while Zelda II gets the Magical Sword with a
nice lighting effect. Watch for yourself:
When I downloaded both NES Zeldas for the Wii I expected similar epic
channel screens… but what did I get? A small screenshot of the title
screen? That’s it? They could have just reused the stuff from the
Collector’s Edition. I would love to have these beautiful screens on
my Wii. And I probably would have bought many more VC games if they
all had such a nice display.
What is the title screen image but a gif or jpeg? Why not just allow us to use our own image (sized in the correct dimensions of course) for it? They let us have all this customizability for the Miis and nothing for images of the games.
“This isn’t important,” snorts Nintendo.
If it isn’t important than why was game box art or game cartridge art so important?
