Hello! Sorry for the quick and dirty mail, I just wanted to comment on the blog post regarding Amazon.
Like the previous emailer said in his email, we don’t actually know anything as Amazon and Nintendo both don’t say anything.. but there have been some consistent rumors for at least a year now regarding the Amazon + Nintendo Hardware issue.
The rumor states that Amazon can’t sell Nintendo hardware directly because Nintendo simply doesn’t give them the hardware. It started with the Wii and DSi, where Nintendo was due to a re-stock for Amazon and stopped bothering to give them things to sell. It’s like Nintendo stopped caring about the online market to favor retail stores. I doubt it was as simple as that behind the scenes, but where there’s smoke there’s fire.. it’s possible that Nintendo dumped Amazon and not the other way around.
That said, it’s worth mentioning that everything started being obvious around the time the DSi or DSi XL came out. This timing could be a clue.
There could be truth to this. Retailers are not happy how they get taxed and Amazon doesn’t in many states. The pressure could be coming from retailers over Nintendo.
