I think the Al Smith Dinner is probably the greatest of political innovations in the American system. In the Al Smith dinner, the candidates are expected to go up there and do a comedy routine. This is quite refreshing from their stump speeches. I rather enjoy forcing the candidates become comedians for our entertainment. I thought they were both funny.
Do other countries have such a practice? I don’t know. If there is, please let me know.
