I’m going against the conventional wisdom to say that GTA 4 *did* move hardware. However, the ‘bump’ is unnoticeable because the HD Twins were slowly sinking in sales. Instead of sinking, the ‘bump’ puts them at normal. The HD Twins are essentially treading water now.
“Next generation console unit sales are running well ahead of the level in the analogous period of 2003 (when console prices averaged under USD 200), implying room for significant sales growth as price cuts are implemented,” Pachter explained.
Note that Pachter is including the Wii in that statement.
Remember, when it comes to CONSOLE WAR, Wii is in a ‘different market’. When it comes to assess Next Generation growth, Wii somehow magically becomes part of the market again.
