I apologize for unloading all these Pachter quotes on you. There is a cushion in the back if anyone gets a headache and needs to lie down.
“I expected [the DSi to feature] an accelerometer to help compete against the iPhone,” Pachter told CVG. “I’m not sure why they didn’t include it, and it would have been a bit more of a differentiator from the current DS Lite, so I think it would have helped consumers justify an upgrade.”
Everyone understands that Nintendo’s strategy is that of non-competition. Even the Hardcore Gamers understand this! When it comes to anything about Nintendo, he becomes Pachter the Clown.
“Why are you being so mean, Malstrom?”
It is because these quotes make NO SENSE. It is the equivalent of Nintendo, after the NES has hit its stride and becoming hugely successful, suddenly be told by an analyst that they need to put out a keyboard for the NES ‘right away’ or be taken over by the dedicated game computers. It is like saying the Gameboy needs to… well, there is no 1980s equivalent to the iPhone.
Maybe I should stop trying to understand Clown Pachter and realize that side-show jesters are employed in the financial world. But you have got to love the Nintendo success due to how confused these analysts sound (well, more incoherent than usual). Remember that guy that said Nintendo should go third party before the DS came out? Yeah, he hasn’t been REAL QUIET lately.
In fact, I will make the next quote for Clown Pachter so he doesn’t annoy a journalist. Here it is:
“Due to the success of the Wii and DS, Nintendo needs to go third party. This would give Nintendo access to all the competing hardware and give Nintendo access to the iPhone. Nintendo’s direction of noncompetition shows that it is fleeing and should exit the hardware business immediately so it can get up to speed on being a third party company.”
Is that crazy enough to be a Pachter quote? Yeah, I know. I can’t do it as well as he can.
