Email: About Zelda Wii

Just a quick correction on something you said regarding the image from the new Zelda in your blog post re: Malstorm’s Blog and Ex-Box. You said:

The Zoro in the picture confirms this will be a watery Zelda. Zelda appears to be doing element themes. Wind Waker is obviously wind themed, for example. (Could Twilight Princess have been earth themed?)

That wasn’t a Zora in the image we saw with Link (who look like this as of Twilight Princess:http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/ca/ZoraTP.jpg). What that person resembles most of the Queen of the Fairies from Wind Waker. (See image here: http://www.zeldauniverse.net/images/games/tww/characters/queenfairy.png)

The common theory going around among Zelda fans is that the person is the Fairy Spirit of the Master Sword (such as the Gale Boomerang in Twilight Princess having a Fairy Spirit inside of it) or may be the living embodiment of the Master Sword.

It looked like a Zora to me. But then again, Zoras also look like space martians as does the Queen of Fairies. Bad art design all around.

We’ve all heard about the *person* in the pic being the ‘master sword’. If this is true, then it shows just how piss poor Nintendo is at authoring a story. If the story is that obvious, then the story is that bad. The problem with Zelda and gaming in general is how obvious and unsurprising the games have become. If she is the Master Sword, I hold no hope for the narrative. If anyone can guess the narrative from one single art photo, you have a big problem.

It is clear that motion plus sword fighting would require re-calibration which means Link cannot run around with a sword in his hands all the time. This is probably the real reason why such a *character* was made (if she does actually turn into a sword or other items). I also suspect the left hand and right hand issue is present since it had such a massive impact on Twilight Princess which is another reason to get rid of the sword.
