Email: What about Sega?

Hi Malstrom,

SEGA used to follow the arcade philosophy, which is part of the success of the current Nintendo approach.

So, while studying Nintendo, why not writing an article on SEGA as well?

Ninten”did” what SEGA didn’t?

Best Regards,

Sega isn’t too interesting to me from a business perspective. In a gaming perspective, Sega is awesome and brimming with talent and classics. In a business perspective, Sega was absolutely lousy and couldn’t get their accounting books in order.

Sega is the Red Ocean company. Its rise, its success, and its fall are very ‘red ocean’ type of stuff. I’m interested in Nintendo’s secret magic of running rings around their competitors while making tons of profit. Sega sometimes ran rings around their competitors. But they always had money problems.

There has been much written about the history of Sega. For articles on the business side of the rise and fall of Sega, check out Sega Base.
