Music #6

From Warcraft 2. The year was 1994 when gaming began utilizing the power of CDs for music. Bill Roper, CEO of Blizzard, plays the voice of the footman. I like how the Blizzard CEO tells me to stop touching him. The Orcs in the background are glorious. This song is *beyond* perfect and strikes the perfect tone of attitude of what gaming is about. “Dabooooo! Daboooo!” “Welcome to the World of Warcraft!” hahaha

Warcraft 2 is one of those few games I recall giving that perfect customer experience. I am not referring to the excellence of the game, which is quite awesome. The game came with Kali on the disc so I could play this modem and network game online. The instruction book had the ‘fictional story’ written as if chapters in a book. The game came with a powerful editor. You could ‘spawn’ copies of the game so you can play with people who did not own the game. My favorite was popping the game into the CD player to listen to this fantastic music. I love Redbook Audio!

Very, very few games achieve that type of height with customer experience. It is no wonder that Warcraft 2 put Blizzard on the map. At the time, you could call Blizzard and Orc voices would be on the answering machine. They were crazy then, but they were my type of crazy.
