Hi Malstrom!
Just wondering, do you think that Red Steel 2 will sell well? I mean, the first one did, and this one is supposed to have better sword controls. Also, the blood is apparently taken out and the artstyle is more “friendly” than the first, making this less of a niche game than RS1.
I believe that, regardless of actual quality, it WILL sell because of its use of motion controls, 1:1 control of a sword.
I believe that the expanded audience would enjoy this,as well as the “Hardcore” crowd, because wanting to be able to control a sword like this is not a desire exclusive to the “hardcore”. What are your views on this?
Don’t write this off as a Red Steel 1 clone. Because RS2 has few similarities with its predecessor.
Thanks for your time, keep up the good article-ing!!! =)
I don’t have any faith in Red Steel 2 to sell. People who played it at E3 complained about the controls. Controls will make or break a Wii game.
No one has really made a ‘core’ game that I’ve really wanted to be seen. First, you start off with the good controls and essential arcade like gameplay. Then, and only then, you add on everything else. It would be as if I started out with Wii Sports Resort’s “sword fighting” and then started adding dungeons and monsters. Or if I started out with the archery and added the Mii riding a dragon and had to shoot other dragons.
Red Steel 2, which does seem nicely done production wise, seems as if the game, and the controls, were made differently. The content is not an organic outgrowth of the controls. If it was, then why would controls be such an issue at this late of period?
Is there any multiplayer in Red Steel 2? I didn’t think so. And that is another reason why people won’t get it.
At this current time, I don’t think Red Steel 2 will sell too well.
