I read you blog entry about a traditional Metroid coming out along with Other M, but something disturbs me: why do you point out november 2010 as the release date of said games?.

I don’t believe you read it then. Other M is an extremely risky move that has the potential to backfire and make the Metroid series become a laughingstock. Nintendo has shown a pattern of coupling a ‘risky Metroid’ with a non-risky one. This paves the way for a 2d Metroid for DS in 2010. There hasn’t been a 2d Metroid this generation, and there appears to be some hints that it is in production. Other M is way too risky. There needs to be a contingency plan. When Metroid Prime came out, it came out with Metroid Fusion for example.

What other ‘core’ game is Nintendo going to release for the DS in 2010? Zelda Choo-choo game is this year. They aren’t going to make another Mario game (though I have nightmares about Nintendo putting out a new 3d Mario for the DS, Nintendo has expressed interest in doing that). Metroid would be the obvious choice. There is enough demand for a 2d Metroid at this point. (This is my educated guess. Predicting Nintendo software is very difficult.)
