Email: My dad’s response to a Move commercial

My dad and I were recently watching an NFL game together and one of the Kevin Butler commercials for Move came on.  Now, my dad has NEVER been a gamer, going back as far as games do, but actually enjoyed the Wii (almost primarily Wii Sports Resort) and the fun it brought along with it.  Once he saw the commercial with people jumping around playing sports games, his response was an incredulous “What the HELL is this?  Some kind of Wii ripoff?!”  My brother and I looked at each other and smiled, as if to say “Exactly, Sony won’t be able to convince previous non-gamers like my dad that the Move is an upgrade or something different.”  I had no idea we were creating a Nintendo fanboy.  I thought you would get a kick out of his response.

They think the ‘casual audience’ is a bunch of stupid sops. But is your Dad stupid? Of course not.

Sony’s ‘Red Ocean’ style of advertising is the WRONG approach.
