Watching that new trailer reminded me of something: Another supposed “Bridge game” that was meant to show off the Wii controls:
.
.
If you watch the video, you see Samus fighting and aiming at all those enemies with new controls, but then at about the :45 mark, it changes. Samus shoots at a door in the right order, then using the “Amazing” new controls, can then open it.

.
Don’t worry, the innovation doesn’t stop there. Soon, Samus can Pull the Wiimote towards the screen, and then push away to open a door! Doesn’t this sound more fun than gunning down aliens and exploring?

Another thing I remember about Metroid Prime 3 was that, like in the trailer for Zelda, killing your enemies wasn’t up to you (unlike the older games); they had specific attack patterns that you had to counter. If a little bug went into Hypermode, Samus had to go into Hypermode. Special Shoes appear on a boss’ feet (Yes, this does happen, in case you even got that far before turning the game off)? Time to use bombs! You wouldn’t even hurt the bosses without Hypermode! (A serious step back from the other 2 primes. At least they let you unleash super attacks on your own time)

I could go on about Prime 3’s mistakes, but I thought these two games similarities tilted toward the same problem: Developers are able to use a new control scheme, it gets too hard to implement it correctly (Remember how the other Prime’s let you choose your beams?) add “Puzzles” in place of them.

I guess I‘ll have to settle for at most Prime 3 quality with this game. While I thought it was still good, all the mistakes it made now look really stupid now that Prime 1 and 2 have the same controls without all the extra junk.
.
Interesting point. And no, I barely got past the ‘asteroid-going-to-doom-us’ part before I shut off Prime 3. I found that strange since I had like 100% completion for Prime 1 and 2. I plan to come back to it (which I’ll have plenty of time since it appears I’ll be skipping out on future consoles).
