Email: Holy crap…

Now, after doing some research it appears he was “joking” but after everything recently, I’m not so sure. Perhaps a joke if it has to be, but a real threat if it turns out that way. I can’t imagine it, even though Zelda and Starfox have royally imploded. Perhaps the plan is to phase out these “old” series’ so they can make love to their new ideas without any more distractions. I’m just so confused anymore!

Born in ’89 and playing Super Mario Bros. before I was one, I grew up with NES era Nintendo and friends, and have stuck with games all through it to the current generation because of the love of gaming those early generations had fostered, but I’m very very scared and disappointing with gaming lately. It really seems the end is near. However, it’s not all bad, like a natural forest fire, the old overbearing stuff burns down and makes way for the new growth. There’s always good that comes with an end of an era.

Besides, I’ve been working on a Zelda 1-esque action/rpg mix game lately, that I know can do well (so far a big rule has been freedom from the start and no dialogue). Maybe if I can learn some programming and transfer it out of the game making program I’ve used, I can help fill the gap Zelda has left behind.

Was Miyamoto joking about that? Darn. But there is truth to that ‘joke’.

Modern Zelda is extremely expensive to make. And the game isn’t selling hardware and certainly not selling much software. As time goes on, sales go down but costs go up. Eventually, something has to give.
