Email: Wii U is about…

Wii U. The name is brilliant for Nintendo’s Philosophy!

No, not that philosophy which they used to adhere to in ’06. Silly!

It’s THAT new philosophy. That, which is inscribed in the name of their new console.

Yes! Yes! That’s right! it’s TOTALLY about you, oh so loyal customer!

It’s totally about, you, fucking you!

You see, before, the Wii was used as a pronoun.

Here’s how Nintendo explained it back in 2006:

“Wii sounds like “we,” which emphasizes this console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. Wii has a distinctive “ii” spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play.”

In 2011 though, the meaning of Wii changed.

It’s not a pronoun anymore. Such a form is now passed on to the second element of the name, “U”. And yes, it stands for “you.”

Wii, on the other hand, is now a verb, or rather, an element that pertains to a particular verb which also fits quite well with Wii.

Guessed’ the verb already? Yep. That’s the word.

Fuck.

Because now, in 2011, the philosophy of Nintendo is to Fuck You, oh so loyal customer.

To Wii U is to Fuck You.

See what they did there?

Very Modern Nintendo.

Another satisfied customer.
