Email: FPS user mods that changed the industry

Surely you’ve heard of Team Fortress 2.  Team Fortress was a Quake II mod.  The team that made it was hired by Valve and made Team Fortress Classic and later Team Fortress.  Counterstrike also originated from a Half-Life mod.  And of course, many game modes that are now staples of first-person shooters, such as Capture the Flag and Zones (goes by various names) started as Quake or Quake II mods.

Right. These are all excellent examples of user innovation.

What is fun about these developers is that they are not offended by user innovation. In fact, they look forward to it! They are gamers at heart and are overjoyed to see something fun to play.
