Email: Dragon Crown IS an arcade game

“For someone as into arcade games as I am, Dragon’s Crown is a project I absolutely wanted to make happen before I die.”
“The challenge here is to advance the genre of games like Golden Axe and The King of Dragons, which I love, while still keeping them 2D.”

These are words of George Kamitani, the man behind Dragon’s Crown. He describes the game as a spiritual succesor to Dungeons And Dragons: Tower of Doom – a wonderful arcade RPG game that he made with Capcom:

It was a blast to play cooperatively. I can’t wait to play a new game with the same mechanics. Also: it wasn’t plot heavy, there were just a few lines describing your every quest, like “You enter a cave full of hungry goblins. They are guarding a treasure!”.

I am writing all this only because the guy who wrote to you before made it sound like it wasn’t arcade. Yes, Vanillaware’s previous games were story-based, but Muramasa had good gameplay and Dragon Crown clearly isn’t about story. Just look at the heroes – they don’t have names, they are described by their class names. And there was literally NOTHING told about story in trailers and interviews (which is very rare nowadays). It’s just a dungeon crawler!

Well, we’ll see when it comes out! =)
