Starcraft 2 and the boat

While the Internet is gasping over Diablo 3 and its consistent Internet connection requirement, this reminded me of a day one Starcraft 2 review I’ve never forgotten. I looked it up just for the reader’s pleasure:

Was looking forward to to playing this game on my boat, which has no broadband connection except at the dock. I hope someone hacks this broadband tether. Blizzard got greedy and really screwed their customer with the broadband requirement–it is a poke in the eye. Also, I really enjoyed playing this game at home with my nephews when they visited. Without spawn capability–that is gone too. I can’t see paying for 3 copies and then bogging down my broadband, which is slow in the evenings, to a crawl. Like I said–it is a POKE IN THE EYE!

Now what is wrong here?

Who the hell plays RTS games on a freaking boat!? We’re not talking about a rowboat here. In order to play a RTS computer game on a boat, well, the boat is going to have to be quite large. A yacht, perhaps?

I’m all for playing video games, but who prioritizes video games when they are on a boat? Of all the complaints I have heard, this one has not left my mind. “I can’t play Starcraft 2 on my boat!” Hahaha.

Clearly, this is a child of a wealthy family (do you know how expensive a boat is?). They probably drag him out on the water which is why he plays video games on the boat. But I can never imagine playing a RTS game on a boat. How can you click on your SCVs if the boat is rocking? Ahh, these rich kids and their problems…
