Last year Miyamoto was on record saying he was working on 3D and a 2D Mario game for the 3DS. Somehow I can’t shake off the feeling that the 2D game has been absorbed into 3D Land where we will surely get crappy 2D parts with stuff coming from the background. remember when Miyamoto said a 2D Mario game on 3DS would have to use 3D tricks? Yes, he called it tricks.

If you go back to the e3 videos of 3D Land you can clearly see those parts where you are restricted to 2D movement but obstacles come from the Z-Axis.
Looks like Myamoto is so obsessed with 3D that he wants to destroy 2D Mario. Not making 2D Mario games has just made the market hungrier, so this time he wants to spoil their appetite once and for all.
Shigeru Miyamoto is just a bitter, old man. There is no other rationale for this behavior.
Have you noticed that Nintendo developers have publicly stated how they despise 8-bit/16-bit Mario, Zelda, and Metroid? Aonuma states how he hates early Zelda. Sakamoto, through his actions, clearly despises Metroid and Super Metroid. And we know Miyamoto really hates 2d Mario.
Why do they hate these games? It is because they actually have to do work. It is Human Nature to not want to work. With the N64/Gamecube games, they can just rely on 3d art animation, ‘puzzles’, ‘narrative’, and not actually handcraft a gameplay skeleton.
I expect the Business Side of Nintendo to lose patience with these fossilized developers, clip their wings, and allow such games to be made (the younger developers in Nintendo, who grew up with the games, understands their value and really wants to make them for a new generation).
