You don’t have to do any research to realize what Gamestop was doing is illegal. A retailer is not allowed to open up a product labeled ‘new’, take something out which interferes with an agreement the game company made, and then sell the product as if it had never been opened.
This is a shut and close case. It is why Gamestop, with its hand caught in the cookie jar, is returning all the Deus Ex games. If I was the publisher for Deus Ex, I’d sue Gamestop for messing with my product. It would be easy to prove and easy to win, and Gamestop knows it (which is why they are sending everything back as if they never carried the game).
