Real quick, since I’m about to head out the door. For years and years I’ve hit the Gamefaqs poll of the day, and while it’s a site with a lot of typical “hardcore” gamers running about…it IS one of the best sites for rpg gaming info of any kind. As such…there’s an RPG games bias about things on the site. Final Fantasy, Tales series, Star Ocean, all those classics that started in the 8/16 bit era kinda lord over stuff on that site.
However….Zelda has always been the pinnacle of gaming on Gamefaqs. Whenever they hold voting contests Zelda games or Link always seem to win or at the very least come in second or third place.

There are some good games on that list. Batman, MW3, Battlefield, maybe even The Old Republic(if they do it right…). But…4th quarter this year on Gamefaqs is SUPPOSED to belong to Zelda. And yeah, it still gets a hefty chunk of the votes but…to lose so badly to Elder Scrolls?
If people don’t believe Zelda is in decline…well I don’t know anymore. I believed it…but I guess I didn’t realize just how far it had fallen even among what’s supposed to be it’s core supporters. This poll really shocked me. Skyward Sword should be one of the most anticipated Zelda games of all time. Zelda…with true 1 to 1 motion controls. And yet…
Now for sure my last email. I just thought this was pretty newsworthy, and just another major indicator of where Zelda is now in the minds of gamers.
What! The GameFaq crowd is more excited over Elder Scrolls than Skyward Sword? That certainly is a sign of the apocalypse.
