Mr. Malstrom,
I don’t have a lot of time, but I wanted to post some quick thoughts on tonight’s 3DS conference.
#1: No 2D Mario. This pretty much guarantees they are not working on one. If they were, they would have shown footage, images or even a logo so boost investor confidence in the system. My guess is they are waiting to see how 3D Land will perform before even starting work since they are hoping they do not have to make one. For me, this was a colossal disappointment.
#2: More Gamecube games. Luigi’s Mansion, Fire Emblem. Nothing really exciting was shown tonight, although Monster Hunter will probably do well in Japan. Random JPRGs that probably will never come out here mean nothing to me.
#3: They gave Link a Mario Sunshine water pack! Seriously, check out the footage and see for yourself. Also, the fact that a good chunk of the 3DS conference was padded with a Wii game is worrisome.
Summary: Mario Kart 7 better be the best in the series. Right now, it’s the only thing keeping from selling this thing. This is the most burned I’ve ever felt buying a Nintendo product. The N64 comes close.
