Email: Skyward Sword? Who cares!?

I’ve often anticipated a new zelda game.  but ever since i’ve read about your articles on mario and metroid, i’ve become more aware about the zelda games.  i remember the posting about spirit tracks and watching the e3 presentation, which was the biggest eye opener.  now that zelda skyward sword is released or close to release, you see i don’t even care or know the release date, that i don’t have any interest in the game.  looking at youtube for video gameplay, it seems more boring than twilight princess [my god was twilight princess boring in having to talk to people].  i’m looking else where for entertainment, either playing old games again and probably till i’m bored to death or simply finding a new hobby.  i’ve saved more money on not having to spend in buying low quality games.  $50 is better placed in my pocket and zelda can be placed on a purple disc either on the wii or as a coaster.  i’m still trying to figure out how to program.  i would like to make my own version of metroid.

tactile experience.  this is the reason why iphone or whatever touch device would never become a handheld gaming system.  i’ve played a cheap platforming game where it has a button layout like the nes controller.  it was aweful.  as a first time person playing a game on a touch screen, it felt like i have lost my sense of touch.  you know when you play mario and you push that jump button, you have this sense or feeling that i can’t describe [but i’m sure you know what i’m talking about].  that stuff doesn’t exist on a touch screen.  i’ve talked to someone about this, and the best that i’ve gotten is that a touch screen is good for thinking games, like luxor.

PC gaming never destroyed console gaming (analysts were so wrong in the 80s). In the same way, mobile PC gaming (iPhones, etc.) cannot destroy mobile console gaming. The only thing that can destroy gaming is gaming itself (example: the Atari debacle).

When Twilight Princess came out, there was a huge amount of passion and excitement. The reason why Zelda fans are not as excited today is because of the piss poor track record of recent Zelda games. The reason why people have no faith in Skyward Sword is because Nintendo has given them no reason. If you’re disappointed in the last five Zelda games, why become excited for this one? Especially when it is using the exact same director.

What happened to me when console gaming just went meh was to hide out in PC gaming. I play only a few PC games but play them a ton. These would be games like Civilization. Sadly, there is less and less PC game companies making quality games. I seem stuck in a mostly Blizzard universe. Not because they are the best but because there seems to be no alternative.

I still haven’t forgotten to post the five computer games I cannot stop playing (meaning I keep returning to them over and over and over again). I guess I should get around to posting them.
