Email: Regarding: “Tell me about your games, Mr. Console Maker”

When I bought my PS3, it had a few games listed on the back of the box, just like old times.  What was different, though, was how I felt about it.  They just looked like crap games!  Of course, as you know the history of the PS3, you know that they probably WERE in fact, CRAP games.  But another thing is that they all look kind of the same, because with the highly detailed graphics, you can’t really see much of what the game is about.  Also, they all have a bit of muddied brown colour.  :)

Nintendo would have an advantage in going back to the old way of presenting games in/on the box… because they don’t use realistic colours as often.

I’m totally with you that the console manufacturers are responsible for pointing customers in the right direction.  Just think how many Wii owners were burned by crappy 3rd party games, not to mention some of the questionable content that Nintendo put out there!  A game may not be BAD, but it may be totally UNSUITABLE for a certain audience.  Nintendo has to do a better job of aiming the products at the right people.  If a person buys one crappy game, or a game that isn’t right for them, they may never come back – and those are the people that will probably NOT be buying a Wii U.

Developers (3rd Party) hate this type of thing (preferential advertising), I’m sure, especially if their product doesn’t make it onto the list, but, well, I’m sick of hearing developers complain.  :)  They thought that IOS was going to be gaming heaven because there are no constraints there – let’s see how that works out for them.  :)

Exactly!
