Like Jesus, they are all “wise teachers”.
Not so. They are interesting only because you don’t know their stories.
Obi Wan Kenobi was only interesting in the original trilogy because his backstory was left to the imagination of the viewer. But did anyone find his story interesting in the new Star Wars films? No. He is kinda lame.
That is the point of John Milton’s Paradise Lost. Milton thought the Adam and Eve story would be very interesting. After all, wouldn’t Adam and Eve and God and all that happened make interesting characters for such a story with such massive repercussions? Since there was no real story on someone like Adam, he becomes a little interesting because our imagination does the work. But as Milton provided details to the Eden story, what occurred was that God, Adam, and Eve (somewhat) come across as lame and boring while Satan steals the show.
Is Santa Clause interesting? Yes, he is. But he is interesting only because of the void. If there was a detailed life and history of Santa Clause, it’d be very boring. It is why Christmas stories revolve around a character’s atonement where he ‘discovers’ the ‘true meaning of Christmas’. The Christmas stories revolve around the grinch, not the Santa Clause, around the scrooge, not the innocent poor.
