The Malstrom Display Program to make a darker Diablo 3

Jay Wilson, the producer for Diablo 3, got tweeted a question.

@Angryrobotics The games out in a few days. Realllllly need to know if we can use darkd3 without getting banned.
Quote:
@Cwatz using programs that alter graphics is against TOS and can get you banned.

“Oh noes,” cried the Internet.

But Jay Wilson never answered the question. Will using Dark3d get you banned or not? A simple yes or no would have sufficed. He knows his tweet is being looked at by many people and becomes fodder as game news. It is quite a crafty answer.

The key word is ‘programs’. Of course, programs that change the graphics are against the TOS. They are mods. Mods aren’t allowed in Diablo 3. I don’t think Dark3d is a program that would be like a mod. So the answer would be ‘yes’, it is OK to use it.

But it is not a good idea for a game’s producer to say yes. He wants to discourage people from using it and to play the game how it actually is. So he mentions that mods that alter the graphics are against the TOS. Scary answer. But it isn’t an answer to the question.

But all this can be solved with an invention that I, the Malstrom, have invented. It is called the Malstrom Display Program ™. You can use it to make Diablo 3 ‘darker’. This is the only program that graphically changes Diablo 3 that Blizzard will not ban. It is that special.

The program consists of the user from turning knobs found underneath the monitor called ‘BRIGHTNESS’ or ‘CONTRAST’. Some monitors make you select it with buttons. Either way, you can use this to make Diablo 3 as dark or as bright as you want.

Thanks to my gaming heart, I have made the Malstrom Display Program ™ free to everyone who has (and hasn’t) purchased Diablo 3. But if guilt troubles you where you think you need to pay back, feel free to write fat checks out to me.

I don’t get any money from this site. So I try to get pleasure from it in unique ways.

Sometimes I’ll post an interesting fact that few people have heard. It is so interesting, it spreads throughout gaming forums nearly immediately after it is posted here. It is always fun to see an Internet ‘ripple’ effect. In the most recent case, it was the Deckard Cain origin photos below.

They were originally shown off in an article around six months ago. I remember it because a Blizzard employee remarked how he had no idea that was the origin of Deckard Cain. So early very yesterday, I put them up (after searching for them for a while) and, in an incredible few hours, they have made an appearance on every gaming forum. Yay.

And… only two more days! I cannot wait…
