Men are going their own way

Have you ever seen propaganda? Most people don’t recognize propaganda even though they call any form of advertising or political bias propaganda. That CNN piece is one of the most blatant forms of propaganda. (Keep in mind CNN has collapsing ratings.)

Judging from how Gaming Message Forums are responding to the piece, everyone senses it is propaganda, but they do not know for what. They keep introducing their own pet theory. The reason for the confusion is not because of ignorance but because the answer is scary. Most people do not want to think about it.

I looked at the comments on the page and the first one I saw nailed it:

awww booo hooo.  Men don’t want to play house anymore!  the rewards don’t always out way the risk.  i lose my kids, my house and i have to still pay for them?  sounds like a grand life!  even if i lose my job i still have to pay or they will put me in jail?  put a lean on my property, ha ha its no wonder men choose an easier life.  Men live like a king and don’t look back!

And then, on my page, was this comment right after:

This article is ridiculous. As a successful 40-year old woman who happens to also enjoy gaming (World of Warcraft, Diablo III, Aion, to name a few), it’s actually quite laughable. My husband and I often enjoy gaming together in the evening as a way to unwind after a long day at work (yes, I know it’s shocking, people who play video games can actually hold down successful careers!). We have successful careers, own our home and cars outright, and even manage to have a fulfilling social life (offline).

I see MANY women play World of Warcraft. They tend to like the more ‘people orientated’ games. The woman knows it is propaganda but doesn’t know for what. The first commenter gets it.

The ‘article’ was all about how video games and porn are ruining men and not causing them to have ‘romantic relationships’ with women. The subject is not really about the men but about American women.

Really? A woman cannot compete against a video game? Or porn? Men would rather have a flesh and blood woman than a video. And if you look at the behavior of men in the video games, they all prefer having a girlfriend as opposed to not having one.

The propaganda is directed towards women to make them believe that the problem is with the men, not with themselves. “Why would places like CNN do this?” It is because they are the remaining audience who watches the old media. Men don’t watch TV or go to CNN websites. They would rather play a video game.

The marriage rates in the United States have plunged. Today, marriage is about the girl getting pregnant and using the law to create child support. Either they get married or not. Why do you think all these movies appeared within the last couple of decades of the male heroes marrying a single mom? It is because it does not happen in the real world. And who watches all these movies? Who was it that made Titanic a huge box office hit? It wasn’t the men.

Today’s women are not fun. (I know this is a general statement, but just allow it for a moment.) Men want a life to be more than just duty and work. Men only play video games because they are fun. If women were more fun, men wouldn’t be playing the video games as much. And with porn, if women got in shape and started sleeping with their husbands again, all porn would go out of business. Video games and porn are not causes of behavior in men, they are reactions to a change in behavior with women. Men are recognizing that today’s women are not acting like their mother or grandmother or great grandmother and so they are in protest. While in protest, they have fun doing things they normally couldn’t do  (like play video games all day).

One of the things I fear for gaming is that they get hit with a ‘bachelor tax’ from all these angry old sourpusses. It is why I advocate the Wii or Blizzard games of including as many women as possible and not just go for the ’30ish year old male’. In a similar way, a product like Wii Fit prevents nations’ governments for inflicting video games with a ‘fat tax’. With the ‘violence card’ being obliterated by the Supreme Court, these jokers are trying to find another way. They do not give up.

Video games are the last entertainment medium that celebrates the masculine element. Go to a modern play, and you won’t see anything masculine. Neither with movies or TV shows which is why they are dominated by a woman audience. When a movie that comes out that does celebrate the masculine element, such as 300 which broke into a hit, it becomes jeered universally by critics with the most common jeer was that ‘it had resemblances to a video game’.

Men deserve to be happy too. The article has a premise that only the ‘woman’s way’ is the right way. But it isn’t. And men are going their own way.
