Email: Wii Fit U seems more like Wii Fit ++

Good day Malstrom,

Well like everyone else I watched the Wii U presentation. The only thing that really seemed to grab me was Super Mario Bros. 6. Not that that’s the only game I like by the way but I’ll come to that later.

Anyway, what woried me was how Wii Fit U was shaping up. Wii Fit and Wii Fit+ were of course some of the best games on the Wii that really gave that console a lot of it’s succes. However, Wii Fit U doesn’t really look like a better game to me.

You see Malstrom, the great thing that Wii Fit+ added was the ability to make your own fitness program, adding in a layer of customization to that game and helping the player lose weight overall. The original Wii Fit had a similar thought with the helpful graph program that mapped out how much weight you were losing as you progressed with the game. These things are what gave Wii Fit it’s succes. It wasn’t a better fitness game, it just helped people lose weight in a much simpler way.

What I’m seeing from Wii Fit U so far only indicates that Nintendo has added new mini-games and little else. Wii Fit U can still be succesfull of course, but I doubt Nintendo really understands it’s succes in the first place.

On another note: I’d like to know your thoughts on a game that piqued my interest: ZombiU. It looked like another shooter to me at first but the game looks to be a whole lot more ambitious when taking a closer look. Here is a video I found of it.

In any case, thanks for your time Malstrom.

Have a nice day.

What intrigues me about ZombiU is the total lack of story and all that BS. Too many of these games try to become like a movie. The simple rule of ‘survive as long as you can’ is interesting and easy to understand.

Concerning Wii Fit, I don’t think the market is over it. The market is very fluid. We saw how Wii Fit sold the Wii, a new Wii Fit could help sell the Wii U.

I actually wouldn’t mind getting Wii Fit U since I could use the controller screen to do the measurements. I hated having to use the TV.
