those are worlds that come from the top of my mind, surely some well payed developers that actually work on that for a living can come up with better ideas, right?
I can’t go through all my emails in a single day so this is why you’re seeing people suggest things that other people suggested. We’re seeing multiple people suggest a Space World or Haunted World which indicates attraction to many people.
You did remind me of that ‘Barren World’. That really, really did make an impression. To jog the reader’s memory, here’s the clip:
At the beginning, you see 8-2. It is really striking just how BARREN it is. It really feels like there is no life in Bowser’s world. Unfortunately, later Mario games focus too much on the lava and the rock. But 8-1 and 8-2 were really creepy. The sky was just black. And the land was just a dead white. There was lots of quicksand.
A barren world is a very interesting idea and one that I’ve never seen in a video game (aside from those two stages in Super Mario Brothers 3). The theme would actually be very strong because the public is familiar with barren worlds through NASA probes and certain spots on the Earth. World 8 in Super Mario Brothers 3 was just amazing (but horribly done like a Vegas show in Super Mario World). I did greatly enjoy World 8 in NSMB Wii. But if they are just going to make Bowser’s world be nothing but fire and brimstone, then they ought to consider a BARREN WORLD. Gameplay elements would involve things like quicksand, things collapsing, hidden ruins, etc. etc.
