Desert Cake that melts shows the importance of content

Notice how so many people got excited over hearing about NSMB U’s worlds to be more than just ‘desert’? Even though it may still be a desert, the idea of a ‘cake desert world that melts’ is far more entertaining than ‘desert world’. The content matters.

It also shows that people’s willingness to buy a game does revolve greatly around the content. After all, this industry has licensed games where people buy, even if the gameplay is bad, just to access the content. Fans of Star Wars buy Star Wars games. Fans of Disney games buy Disney games.
