Email: Your gaming handheld idea

Yes, it would be remarkably cheap to make a GBA quality device with let’s say 2 GB onboard memory to store games that had WiFi and was download game only.

It would be cheaper than we think. It would be VERY disruptive. “Why wouldn’t you want BLAH BLAH BLAH.”

Add in a multitouch screen to make the interface for games and anything in the OS (should default to simply booting to last ran game, and OS should be basically a list of games you can get to through the games’ pause menu) not suck to interact with, and an HDMI out so it can be a home console. That’s all it would need.

It would be EASY to make a $60-$90 device to do this.

I would be very excited for a very cheap gaming handheld with a solid screen and solid buttons. Too bad no one wants to make it for me.

Sony and Nintendo need to give up doing the ‘non-game’ functions like ‘Internet Browsing’ or ‘Netflix’ on their gaming handhelds. Smartphones are handheld computers. A gaming handheld should not try to be a handheld PC. Just laser in on the games.
