Troubling release information for the Wii U from Japan

The North American release details haven’t been announced as of this post. Prices in dollars haven’t been determined.

The price for the GamePad alone seems… high. Not sure about the yen conversion, but isn’t that around $100?

Nintendo Land will be a cheaper price and has the worst box art I’ve ever seen. That game is going to die.

Iwata mentioned transferring WiiWare and VC games to the Wii U. But no mention of anything being account bound. If I transfer my VC copy of Super Mario Brothers, is it account bound then? What is going on?

And what the hell is going to be on the E-shop? I don’t think the E-shop was mentioned. If there is no E-shop available at launch, that is very, very ,very troubling. The Wii had an online shop available at launch.

Nintendo did announce a promotion of 10% money back if you buy stuff digital. But buy what digital? Maybe the software will be talked about more later.

The multiple SKU approach is very, very bad. A big reason the Wii was successful was because there was only one version. And if you want to make comparisons with the NES, there was only one NES (until the revision when the SNES came out). All NES systems were the same but came with different games and accessories.

If you want a black Wii U, you have to pay more money for something you may not want. That’s pretty lame.

Edit: Yes, guys, the Wii U will be released in November for North America. Retailers will not allow new products needed so much shelf space like a console in after that time due to the Black Friday/ Christmas crunch.
