A very good day to you Master Malstrom,
“TW, in 33 days there will be meltdowns by the like no one has ever seen across the United States. I have kermit ready.”
OK, out with it. I KNOW that you’re referring to Obama getting the boot from you guys across the atlantic. So the least you could do is give us the same analysis you gave us back in 08.
Let me say first that I’m someone who was actively rooting for Obama in 08. Your analysis back angered me when I read a few months after the election. However, through the years I actually started to read them and grew fascinated with your look on the political landscape. Let me say that ‘Toast’ is easily one of my own favourite blogs you’ve ever written (and you write some pretty good stuff). I devoured the San Jacinto post as well along with your analysis of the Republican primary back when Romney was still having trouble getting the nomination.
Speaking of which: throughout the 2012 primary, Romney has shown himself incredibly weak. But in the recent months he’s shown himself to be pretty savvy with having Ryan as his running mate(which is interesting considering Ryan himself was a big government Republican but has since gone a more conservative route), destroying Obama’s so called ‘edge’ on foreign policy and the first debate two nights ago.
So, out with it I say! I know you can give us at least some interesting analysis on this race rather than me going back to the usual websites for all the tired clichés of politics.Since there seems to be some interest on this, let’s do this. I won’t go making predictions and all, so here is another idea.
Many of you emailing me are outside of the United States. I’ve noticed that online, some people in nations outside the US may be wondering, “Why does the US do that?” or “How does that system work in the US?” Feel free to email me any questions you’ve wanted to ask or were afraid to ask. These can be historical, current event, cultural, legal, whatever. I believe I could provide people with a more thorough answer than they could find anywhere else. I could also answer the legalistic questions with some authority. Since my geographic location is Houston, Texas, I can also any questions about Texans (i.e. why do Texans keep saying X?) or even the political gravity of this area (I could tell you how the American Right thinks and acts because I am immersed in them at this location).
So no predictions from me about the future.I’m actually curious to see what people from outside the United States would ask… if they ask anything. Don’t be shy. Ask away!
