Email: PlayStation 1 Emulation

Maybe that was a typo, but PS1 is old quite news (I was running that stuff on a 667MHz Pentium 3).  PlayStation 2 emulation, however, that’s hot stuff.

Don’t forget DreamCast as well – heck it’s actually somewhat old news at this point.

I guess by emulation, I mean that it has gotten to the point where anyone can just download some roms and an emulator and go at it with little hassle. This also gets easier as computers get more powerful. I’m not sure if the Dreamcast is there yet. Saturn is there aside from the troublesome games (due to Saturn’s unique hardware).

I’d much rather play these games on an actual console. It’s such a shame Nintendo doesn’t want to sell that experience of being able to play old games.

Forget the Gamecube on the Wii U. Let’s get the NES and arcade games right. They’re not even a megabyte in size. If Nintendo can’t create an account system for them, what hope do we have? Why would anyone want to buy a brand new game or a Gamecube VC game when Nintendo can’t even do the NES or Arcade VC right? Why trust Nintendo with games past the year 2000 when Nintendo is struggling with games thirty years old?

These games are twenty five to thirty years old. And Nintendo thinks people want to keep buying them generation after generation?

I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo thinks it can get away with re-selling classic games by making them HD. They’ll be surprised at the backlash.
