Ars Technica correctly identifies overrated games except one…

Take a look at this list. Just take a look at it. Ars technica has been making points I agree with (such as how backwards Nintendo’s DRM as hardware is with the 3DS and Wii U). In this list, they excoriate games like Super Meat Boy and Halo. I’m not sure why Wii Sports was in the list as no one rates that game highly (except myself). I think Wii Sports inclusion was to make sure the Game Industry didn’t suspect Malstrom ghost wrote that list (*wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*).

Listen to what they say about Twilight Princess:

Zelda, on the other hand, has taken the best elements from the NES and SNES entries—puzzle solving, exploration, and swordplay, in roughly that order—and weighed them down with over-long tutorials, interminable cutscenes, and fetch quests that pad the games’ running time without really adding much to the fun.

It’s like reading one of my blog post previews before I hit the ‘publish’ button!

For Wii Sports, it says:

But the game was also universally loved, with outlets like IGN calling it the “Sports Game of the Year.”

Wii Sports was certainly not universally loved. It was universally despised with most game reviewers and inside the Game Industry. It recieved a metacritic score of like 70. To this day, I cannot find anyone praising the best selling video game. I point to it as proof of how out of touch the Game Industry is with Real-Life-People (who have real jobs).
