If you got the impression that From tried to make Dark Souls more like an Elder Scrolls game in order to sell better, you misinterpreted whatever it was you read. Probably From got the idea that ES’s success means they could have similar success with the Souls series. But Dark Souls is absolutely nothing whatsoever like Skyrim or Oblivion beyond being an RPG in a Tolkienish fantasy setting
You should probably play some of these games before commenting on them. Have you even played an ES game since Daggerfall?
P.S. What you said about productivity is why I simply have no interest in working for NASA. The pay is good, and there are really interesting opportunities there, but at the end of the day, you’re just making government cheese.

I never said Dark Souls is like Skyrim. I said Skyrim is selling big numbers and Dark Souls creators are looking at that and wondering how to get some of those numbers. Why is THEIR RPG not selling as well as Skyrim, they wonder.I think Skyrim’s sales might be larger because the game is tapping into female gamers. I cannot verify that however. The reason why Final Fantasy blew up was because it sold to women as well as men (but I don’t think anyone buys Final Fantasy today).I do play around with these games, including Skyrim, on other people’s consoles when I visit. No, I have not sat down and played only that because I don’t have the time to do so nor the inclination. I find Oblivion and Skyrim to be extremely tedious as well as being time sinks. That’s just me however. What is going on is that they are satisfying the RPG itch for the market at the moment. I do not expect that to last especially as more competitors come in.
