Why I defend War Z

Someone has to defend War Z. I guess I’ll do it.

Here are all of War Z’s sins.

But someone explain to me why it is bad for War Z to be attacked for false advertising when Halo 4 did the same exact thing with its ‘free maps’ snafu? Why is War Z attacked for banning people but not Microsoft who did the same exact thing? At least, War Z didn’t put out a game hardware that was defective, lied about it for months, and cooked the financial books by inserting the billion dollar warranty issue separate from the Games Division.

WarZ is attacked for charging people for an unfinished product. Really now? How exactly is this different from any other Game Industry game? “War Z is copying other games.” And other games don’t!? “War Z is profiting off of Day Z’s success.” And the Game Industry doesn’t do this? Come on!

People ask, “How did WarZ get approved on Steam?” The answer is because WarZ is no different from any other Game Industry game except in this regard: it is too transparent. War Z’s bumbling is revealing the Industry for the sham it is. That is why it is being attacked.

Watching the pile-on with War-Z is like watching politicians all attack one politician. Not because that politician did something different, but that he did it openly and bumbled any cover-up.

If the War Z devs had a Game Industry publisher, you’d hear about none of this. Journalists would be paid off and everyone would be winking and smiling at each other while gamers lose more money.
