Email: Wii U Virtual Console is disapointing

What Nintendo does with the Virtual Console was the #1 make it or
break it decision for me purchasing a Wii U. I’ve decided not to
buy one. Paying a fee for dumb features like save states and crappy
social media integration is stupid and having to pay a fee just to
have your games on the main Wii U menu is so dumb. Is it that hard
to make it to where you can play your VC games on the GamePad? I
guess it could be worse and you had to pay full price again but I
just don’t like it because the features are just so trivial. So all
your VC games are stuck in Wii mode and you don’t have an account
system in place. The whole potential of having a digital store is
that these games should last you a life time and be transcendent
from console to console. I was hoping for an expansion of the
Virtual Console with no data limit for the games since you can hook
up an external hard drive.

Also starting over the Virtual Console again?!!??Third parties are
not going to want to recode their games again. Look at how horrible
the support for the Virtual Console was the last few years on Wii.
400+ games just go down the drain and there is no guarantee that
all those games are going to come back. Having everything in Wii
mode is just so lazy. Why is there even a Wii mode? Couldn’t
Nintendo come up with something better, like not having to go into
freaking Wii mode to play your Wii games and Virtual Console
games?!! There was no GameCube mode on Wii. All you had to do was
pop in the disc and that was it. I know nothing about creating a
console and coding but there just had to be a better way. It is
like Nintendo is just shoving aside the Wii. You want your Virtual
Console games to be on the main menu? Well too bad, we don’t care
about those games so just put them in Wii mode with no account
system.

Nintendo is going to have a huge drop in stature. To have a
successful strategy with the Wii and completely have the audacity
and arrogance to shove that aside and go with a N64 and GameCube
strategy that has never worked for Nintendo is baffling. Where are
the business minds throwing up the red flags? Even the marketing is
arrogant. How U Will Play Next?!??!! Why not How Will U Play Next
or How Do U Want to Play Next. Nintendo needs to quit throwing a
fit that their 3D mindset is not working. I mean they are a
business! What business gets upset that their peers are making fun
of them when they were kicking their ass in every way with a
console that wasn’t a technical powerhouse. It is their peers that
should be embarrassed that the Wii kicked their ass, not Nintendo.
Screw this whole industry mindset.

One thing I would like to see is a classic game service for the old
games. Good Old Games is nice and all but I would love a Virtual
Console like service with an account system and DRM Free games. I
guess that is just a dream now. Imagine Final Fantasy on Good Old
Games or Ogre Battle 64. Maybe Contra and Castlevania. It would be
nice to see somebody with an aggressive mindset do something like
this. If Good Old Games can get companies to release DRM Free games
then surely they or somebody else could get classic games released
DRM Free.

Another satisfied Nintendo customer.

I believe GamersGate is DRM free. You can find Genesis games there available. Genesis does what Nintendon’t.
