It isn’t the best game ever. I bought it when it came out. It is still a good game especially by today’s standards.
The excitement over System Shock 2 isn’t really System Shock 2. The excitement is that once considered impossible legal knots will no longer be seen as impossible. I remember the guy in Hudson telling fans when they were asking what games they wanted on the VC that… “What you ask is possible. Never say never.” All the legal tape can get cut away because there are buyers on the other end. People love making money and currently these games are not behaving as assets.
Aside from the LucasArts games, I hope GOG opens up emulation and brings console games over. This may be a legal black hole, but I do not think so. Obviously, Nintendo games will never come over but Sega games would. Hudson and Konami games might. Capcom games very well could. And what about SquareEnix games? Why not be able to play Chrono Trigger through the PC legally? Already, Sega has their games offered at one site (DotEMU I think).
If Nintendo doesn’t get on board and give us an account system, they’re going to discover that all the third party games have left which eliminates any interest to a Nintendo system. If you could buy every SNES game except for Nintendo titles, that’s pretty sweet.
While it doesn’t seem like GOG releases much, they release a ton. It is like a new game every weekday. How the heck can someone keep up reviewing these? Argh!
