Email: No Physical Copies of Fire Emblem

Dear Malstrom:

I’m surprised no one has e-mailed you about the new Fire Emblem game being totally unavailable. I was in Arlington VA for two weeks on business and left a day before Fire Emblem Awakening came out. I wanted to play the game in my down time and decided to go pick it up at a local electronics store. Well, first there was a shipping issue and the game wouldn’t come out for two days; however, it turn out that it wasn’t just a few days and it has turned into weeks. The Gamestop near where I was had never gotten any copies, and when I left they wouldn’t get their copies for another 5 days (I expect they wont get it next week either). The story is the same when I got back to Florida and no one has  it. Online retailers don’t have it either. This is all two weeks after the release date. No surprise, Nintendo has barely responded to this and has not given us a time frame of when we can buy this game. I understand that sometimes there are errors and these things can happen, but it’s two week with no sign of new copies coming in. I could download it, BUT WAIT, Nintendo doesn’t have an account system. That’s the other problem. There is no protection and I’d rather not blow 40 bucks on a game that I don’t really own. So I refuse to download the game and would rather wait for a physical copy.

I have learned one thing from all this: that consumers take the path of least resistance when buying products. As time has gone on, I want this game less and less. I suspect Nintendo is going to lose sales because people lose interest in it buy the time the next shipment comes it (which will probably be at the end of the month).

Overall, Nintendo is just so crappy now that this is just the icing on the cake. I’m starting to question my 3DS purchase. Hope I haven’t bored you with this little story. Take care!

Sincerely,

Chris

P.S. I really enjoy the post about oil. They are very interesting reads.

It’s clear not many copies of Fire Emblem were sent out. Until I see any evidence to the contrary, it seems like a supply issue and not a demand issue. I think Fire Emblem is benefiting due to the lack of any RPG competition on the 3DS.
