Hearing much about the Waco explosion. Knowing you are from the state of Texas, I’d hope you are well master malstrom

Most people aren’t aware an explosion occurred in central Texas that killed more people than the explosions at the Boston marathon. An entire town was destroyed. Yet, all the coverage revolves around Boston. Why is that?

“It is because,” a reader says, “that deals with terrorism. The Texas explosion was an industrial accident.”

You don’t know that. We’re finding out that the Boston kids were American raised. And why do people automatically assume an industrial explosion is always an industrial accident? If I was a terrorist, I’d target industrial centers.

The real reason is one that everyone in Texas knows. Boston got the coverage because it is Boston. If the same exact events of Boston occurred in, say, Alabama there would be little to no coverage. The people destroyed in the Waco explosion will not receive any news coverage because they are blue collar workers. However, if the northeast receives an extra inch of snow, the news will go on and on about it. A couple of years ago, there were fires blazing through Texas. You could be driving and the horizon would be filled with flames. No mention at all. The drug gangs of Mexico making war across the border and assassinating the state’s attorney generals… not a mention.

It shows there is a growing geographical divide growing throughout the country.
