Email: Zelda Lttp2 with orchestral music video

It looks like Nintendo is going all out with Zelda on the 3DS with orchestral music and treating it with proper respect. Other than the terrible painting gimmick, I foresee this to be the NSMB of the Zelda series, a coming back to Zelda without 3D bogging it down. Hope you enjoy the video.

The sound and music sounds spot on. More Link to the Past is not a bad thing. I just hope there is new content in there and this game is more than Link-To-The-Past-In-A-Blender.DLC having new dungeons and all would be in huge demand for this type of game. We’ve never had LTTP gameplay be difficult (as LTTP was always an easy game which was disappointing compared to the difficult Zelda 1 and 2).

You know Nintendo is doing something right when our good friends, the hardcore, start screaming. “Why does Nintendo always milk nostalgia?” “Can’t Nintendo make any new franchises?” Blah blah blah. Every time Nintendo goes back to the 8-bit/16-bit Well of Gaming Goodness, these guys, including Game Industry types, squeal like stuck pigs. However, should Nintendo keep returning to the N64/Gamecube Well of WTF, note how the Game Industry types lavish praise on Nintendo. If Nintendo was a woman, she looks very hot when she wears 8-bit/16-bit outfits yet looks hideous wearing the N64/Gamecube clothes. Nintendo’s competitors praise and encourage Nintendo to do the wrong thing. When Nintendo starts getting customers excited, the Game Industry starts cursing, “Who does she think she is? How dare she wear something that hot!”

As a franchise, Zelda is in sad shape. The DS Zelda games didn’t help the franchise. Skyward Sword had to have been a sales disappointment. This Zelda is the right game to be made.

However, in my earlier envisioning of this Zelda, I emphasized multiplayer play (co-op play) and different classes (instead of being Link, you could play as Zelda or the Wizard). The latter would be hard but the former would be more like NSMB. Making games is hard and that might be too hard for Nintendo to do at the moment. However, it gives us something to look forward to in the future if this title sells well.

And I think it will sell well. NSMB 2 and this Zelda is making the 3DS look very appealing to me. Perhaps I just miss when I could play a decent Mario and Zelda game on the same console without it being the Virtual Console. Now we just need a Metroid.
