Wonder why we see things like wall drawing in Zelda games? It’s the same
story throughout Aonuma’s entire tenure:
Bird travel
Choo choo trains
Wolf transformation
Sailing
Mask collecting
We see these new gameplay elements (that dilute the fun of Zelda)
because Aonuma’s team can’t think of any new weapons/items that change
gameplay. The things you find in treasure chests that make you
reevaluate everything you’ve seen in the game so far. (As different as
they are, Zelda and Metroid are fun for the same reasons) Zelda games
have not brought anything new in that respect since Link to the Past.
Link to the Past had so many, it couldn’t even fit them all in its
dungeons. If this new game was pursuing this goal, we wouldn’t need
something like wall drawing in the first place. But maybe there is
nothing left to create and Zelda truly is a dead series?
Aonuma was the worst thing to ever occur to the Zelda franchise. Why did Nintendo put someone in charge of a series who hated the original games?
And it is the bizarre Nintendo ideology as well. We don’t want this gimmicky bullshit like the ‘caveman drawings’ in the game. It doesn’t fit.
Reggie would respond to this saying, “Well, when was the last time you made a best selling video game?”
And I’d respond, “When was the last time Zelda was a best selling video game?”
