Email: What to buy on 3DS

You mentioned considering getting a 3DS for New SMB 2 and New Zelda, and there could be some reason in that. New SMB 2 may have a lot of recycled assets, but it still has the great 2D Mario gameplay. The new Zelda surprisingly enough looks interesting, which I thought I would never say again after Skyward Sword.

Other 3DS games that I’ve found good:
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy – it’s actually a good game, focusing on the music of the FF games. The gameplay is simple but can get quite involved and challenging.
Gunman Clive – it’s a short but fun game, taking some inspiration from NES games like Megaman. It’s only 2 bucks in the eShop, so it’s good value even with Nintendo’s digital ransoming policy.
Mighty Switch Force – this one is six bucks in the eShop when it’s not on sale, which is getting on the high side for a game that’s forfeit if you lose your console. It should focus more on action than puzzles but it’s still a relatively energetic and fast-paced game.
Find Mii / Streetpass Quest (the built-in Mii RPG) – this is Nintendo trying to get people to walk around cities with their 3DS, but if you get enough Mii characters from Streetpass connections, it’s a good game with some good music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-kyfQ6cakE
Those are some good 3DS games, but I still play a lot of DS games from its vast library. The 3DS is eventually shaping up and picking up games, but make no mistake – it will probably never be as good as the DS.

Regards,
somewhat satisfied 3DS owner

Maybe I’ll just stick to my DS. DS has an amazing library that needs to be explored.
