Email: The Hardcore Just Got Xboned

Sean,

The thing the hardcore are really struggling with is the now-obvious fact that Microsoft doesn’t care about them. It shows just how little they know about industry, despite blathering about it on forums all the time. Those of us who do things in the real world know just what sort of company Microsoft is. It’s a bloated behemoth that ultimately directs everything toward Steve Ballmer’s fantasy of total industry control.

The Xbone surprised exactly no one who understands so much as the first thing about Microsoft. It’s exactly what every other Microsoft product is: A trojan horse filled with features you don’t want and seventy-nine bullet points on the box. Surely you remember this video:

Well, now we’ve seen this applied to a video game console.

So the hardcore are just sick with the realization that Microsoft, and Steve Ballmer specifically, do not care one whit about them. They deluded themselves because the hardcore were the only ones who bought the OXbox. But that was just a vanity project, and none of the people who were involved with that are still with Microsoft.

Over a third of the RAM and a large section of the graphics chip are taken up by the TV crap and Kinect nonsense, and the dashboard is going to be filled with ads from day one. And don’t forget sportssportssportssports The hardcore just aren’t a priority now, and even they know it.

Ironically, I don’t expect anyone except the hardcore to buy this dumb thing. Non-hardcore consumers are too discerning. While the Xbone might be waking some hardcore to realize exactly what the Game Industry is and how they are not their friend, I’m still waiting for them to realize why the Game Industry despised the Wii.Why would the Game Industry hate a successful console? Why hate a console that is 100% focused on gaming? Why hate a console devoted to growing the gaming population? Why hate a console trying to control skyrocketing game development costs?

Why does the Game Industry want consoles not 100% devoted to gaming, not devoted to growing the gaming population, and a console increasing skyrocketing game development costs?

I so hope Xbone game prices are $70 and up. Make the Xboners pay.
