Hi Malstrom

Some Steam games are actually DRM free. It isn’t the norm but here’s a list of DRM free Steam games.

Most of these games aren’t any big deal but there are some notable ones, Alpha Protocol, Psychonauts, Sonic, Bastion, Fallout 3, Oddworld, Painkiller, VVVVVV etc…

So I’m not sure how implementing Steam drm works but it looks like you don’t have to if you dont want to.

Also for what it’s worth most PC games have cracked .exe’s, which run without steam. Many games on Steam can be made so you dont need steam open to run with these, making them effectively DRM free. You’re missing the point. Steve Jobs put DRM free music available on iTunes side by side DRM music and marketed it as DRM free (making it slightly more expensive I think). Gabe Newell refuses to do that with Steam because it blows up the entire operation. Steam’s ‘user experience’ is nothing more than sugar for people to swallow the DRM. Gabe Newell refuses to support DRM free or even talk about. If anyone doubts this, have someone ask him about it. Why not? It is all the rage with the Xbone talk. Gabe Newell loves talking about everything else in game. How come no one has asked him about the DRM?

It is intentional that he dodges every question about DRM. Steam is nothing more than a giant DRM scheme, and he (and the Industry) do not want you to think of it in that way.

Do you realize how much better gaming would be if gamers took their Xbone backlash to Steam? Let GOG and similar DRM free sites win. The amount of cerebral gymnastics gamers do to justify getting trapped by Steam is amusing to watch. I expect the same to happen to younger hardcore with the Xbone.
