Funny stuff. I love how they call him out for contradicting himself about “moving forward” by going back to an old game. It’s not that I’m at all against revisiting the classics, it’s that Nintendo developers in general are what George Carlin would call “stunningly full of shit.”
This quote irritates me though:
“But rather than make this game the way Miyamoto and Tezuka did, we want to make a game that they will find exciting to play.”
As if the original game wasn’t fun. Oh, that’s right, Aonuma would just cut grass all day because he sucks at video games. Therefore, the original game wasn’t fun.
Ugh. I’m hesitant about this game. I have no doubt it’ll be better than the terrible DS games, but it won’t match A Link to the Past.
It feels like Nintendo developers talk out of both sides of their mouth. Like a politician.
Politicians want to do whatever they want. They see the ‘work’ be the campaign. Once they are elected, then it is time for them to have ‘fun’. We, the peasants, do not think they should be having ‘fun’. We think they should be ‘serving the people’.
I think that is what comes down to it. Jobs aren’t supposed to be fun. That is why they are called jobs and not hobbies or playtime. Why is it assumed the game developer gets to have fun making a game? The only people who are supposed to have fun are the paying customers. The ‘fun’ of an entertainer is not in the play but in making other people have fun.
